Our Charity Arctic Trek raises £27 000
Julie and I are thrilled to announce that our trek to the Arctic Circle in April raised almost £27,000 for our chosen charity, Make a Wish Foundation. The husky-drawn challenge across 250 frozen kilometers was in aid of this fantastic cause who gave my niece – Julie’s goddaughter – Sienna, a magical day out at Disneyland Paris.
Julie has been amazing and thought up the idea and then persuaded me to sign up for the trek – as well as making sure I did (some of) the training in between work and flying between Dubai and Leeds. The six days were amazing but tough. Probably the best days were when my phones gave up completely and I was free of email and text messages!
We want to thank everyone that sponsored the trek – your generosity will go a long way to making a massive difference to the lives of young people across the UK. A special thank you too to the Leeds fans, who were fantastically supportive throughout.
Note to David Cameron – Julie Treneer needs an honour! I am also honoured to have been made an Ambassador of Make a Wish Foundation and am already planning another series of treks and challenges for later this year and 2014! David
